Fw: Announcing the Elecraft K3 Transceiver: 10/100W, 160-6m, Assembled or Kit

Simon (HB9DRV)
Wayne,

Looking at the available information am I right in thinking that by adding a
sub-receiver I can use a common antenna for 15 and 10m and get separate
audio via the rear stereo connector? This would be wonderful for digital
modes as I could monitor two bands simultaneously. Obviously the ATU should
be OFF in RX.

Will the K3 be displayed at Friedrichshafen 2007 or is it only available for
viewing by the 'old colonials' for now?

You can have the subreceiver listen on the same antenna as the main
receiver, or an a different antenna assuming the KAT3 ATU is installed.

With the KXV3 option you can have it listen on a separate (third)
antenna, or add additional filtering in-line.

You can combine the receiver audio, or split it so main is left and sub
is right.  You can get the stereo output from speakers, front headphones
or rear headphones.  YOU can also get it along with one of these from
the PC line output jack.

Sure you do!  You just didn't know it until today :-)

PS - thank you for your work on HRD and DM780, Simon.  The K3 is fully
controllable over the serial interface. There is nothing you can control
from the front panel that you won't be able to control remotely :-)

Assuming I do need another radio, would you be shipping by Q3 or Q4?

As explained on the order form, you can reserve a K3 now for initial
shipments in July. A 50% deposit is requested if you'd like to secure
one of the first 200 production units (serial numbers 20-220,
probably).

This is like offering a nice juicy bone to a dog who's been living off
cornflakes for the last 3 years.
