Keith,
as someone earlier suggested to build your own enclosure. I believe Elecraft sells them at a minimal cost and it's fun. This way you can pick the size you want. Also it will save you over a hundred dollars and more investing in another product. 73 john n4dsp > On Wed, 27 Sep 2006 06:02:16 -0700, Darwin, Keith > <[hidden email]> wrote: > >> The audio filter looks really cool but, again, no case. >> >> A power meter and an audio filter to me are not test equipment things, >> their part of the basic station equipment. On behalf of someone who does have metal bashing tools and knowledge I just
don't have the time or inclination to make a case. I'm far away from anywhere, one rally a year to buy boxes etc. I would rather spend my time writing code. Sad - but that's me. The little WM1 is an attractive option, myself $50 for a solid *metal* enclosure would be very welcome, as would optional PL259 rather than BNC as I'm PL259-based here (IC-703). Put it in a Brass box for the Wallace & Gromit fans please, then I'll have the first Watt-o-matic :-) Simon Brown --- RSGB HF Convention October 2006: http://www.rsgb-hfc.org.uk/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "n4dsp" <[hidden email]> > Keith, > as someone earlier suggested to build your own enclosure. If you are looking for a finished power meter kit, you should check out
the LP-100, by fellow elecrafter Larry Phipps. (www.telepostinc.com) It is a very well thought out and attractive unit (neat pld display) with power, swr and vector measurements. I participate in the LP-100 reflector and, from the comments, everyone seems to be quite pleased. I think he is starting another kitting run. Hey guys, did you see? Three new mini modules are on the order page and their manuals are available for download. - Power meter - AF filter - Stepped attenuator I looked them over and gotta say, I was very disappointed. I had really envisioned a meter in a case that would match my K2. Something with a backlit LCD that would display power and SWR to with 2 digits each (11 watts, SWR 1.2). I had plans to sell my Palstar meter (which won't do QRP well) and get the Elecraft meter but now I'm really having 2nd thoughts about that. The audio filter looks really cool but, again, no case. A power meter and an audio filter to me are not test equipment things, their part of the basic station equipment. They'd get used every time I'm on the air and as such they really should be in a finished case with real silk screen labels and knobs. It's not clear to me that either one could be mounted in a box as the components & connectors may project too tall above the board and could interfere with the pots & LEDs as they try to project through the front of the enclosure. - Keith KD1E - - K2 5411 - ***************************** This communication, including any attachments, is confidential and may be protected by privilege. We'll be adding BNC male to SO-239 (UHF) adapters to the web site order
form early next week. 73, Eric Simon Brown (HB9DRV) wrote: > The little WM1 is an attractive option, myself $50 for a solid *metal* > enclosure would be very welcome, as would optional PL259 rather than > BNC as I'm PL259-based here (IC-703). > > Simon Brown _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list.
