I received a nice surprise watching the news late last night when a K3
popped up on the screen at the end of this story. (See the link below.) They actually had two ham radio related stories. Field Day, and earlier in the broadcast, the story on moon bouncing that has appeared in the NY Times and elsewhere. 73, Eric WA6HHQ -------- Original Message -------- Subject: FW: KSBW Field-Day Video Date: Sun, 28 Jun 2009 09:45:35 -0700 (PDT) Lots of K3s in this operation, with a couple great close-up shots. http://www.ksbw.com/video/19881725 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I just wish we could get that kind of coverage and understanding over
here. It appears in the US, the media and public are much more aware of the part amateur radio can play in national emergencies and just generally (you have a big country with places with no cell coverage etc). 73 de M0XDF, K3 #174 -- If all is not lost, where is it? Same situation over here David.
Even in items about CB or "pirate" music transmitters the media misuses the term radio-amateur. If you say a technical/regulations exam is mandatory for this hobby people are highly surprised. Why do you need that to play deejay on the air? Even to the local authorities you have to explain putting up an antenna (which has restrictions here) is not for transmitting music.... Good commercial btw Eric, nice close ups of the brand label! And a well chosen contrast with the other ....eh.....HF thingy..... :-) 73' Paul PD0PSB

I think the neatest thing about this video is that there were YOUNG people there! That's encouraging. Nice press for Amateur Radio and Elecraft too.
Wonder what she meant by "the old way"??? ;o) 73, Julius
