I am doing the exact same thing for 144 thru  5760

Here is my 1296 settings

XV5-ON
XV5-RF 1296  (selected band)  
XV5 IF  28   (internal transverter IF)
XV5 OFS 0   (I am GPS locked)
SV5 PWR L 1.02
XV5 ADR INT TRN5

note the int trans  tells the K3 to use the internal 2 m module
