UK Amateurs Gain 7.1 - 7.2MHz from 31 October
Ofcom and the Radio Society of Great Britain are pleased to announce that all necessary procedures required for early access to the 7.1 to 7.2MHz spectrum for all UK radio amateurs have been finalised and that access is allowed from 0100UTC on Sunday 31 October 2004. Early access is granted on a Secondary (non-interference) basis using a maximum of 26dBW (400 watts) PEP. Notices of Variation for the Foundation, Intermediate and Full licences have been published on the Ofcom website. orse code modes are used between 7.1 and 7.2MHz. B It is recommended that for the time being only voice and Mand planning issues on 7MHz will be kept under regular review and will be dependent on the number of administrations granting early access to this band prior to full Primary access on 29 March 2009. The RSGB would like to offer its appreciation to all parties involved in the consultations, in particular the broadcasting industry, the UK Ministry of Defence, the Radiocommunications Agency and its successor Ofcom. Please note that access to the extra 100kHz is only allowed from 0100UTC, and not midnight UTC, on Sunday morning. Or, put another way, from 2.00am local time, at which time the clocks are put back by one hour. Local time will then be 1.00am, the same as GMT or UTC. Gregg R. W9DHI said: > UK Amateurs Gain 7.1 - 7.2MHz from 31 October... We In Ireland (EI) have been granted access since the 20th of October, However our regulator didn't see fit to actually publish the info anywhere public and the comreg web site hasn't been updated yet, it has however been 'published' It's a well hidden document, the website still links to version 3 and we are now on version 5, elsewhere on the comreg website version 1 (complete with errors) is still available. http://www.comreg.ie/_fileupload/publications/ComReg0277R5.pdf I had to guess the URL to find the above document! I rang the regulator this morning in light of the Uk announcment which is how I found out about our new privileges which are as follows 7.100-7.200 Secondary 20 dBW (ERP) A1A, A2A, A3E, R3E, H3E, J2B, J3E, J2F F1B, F2B, F3E, G1B I queried ERP since giving ERP with no actual reference in this context is meaningless. I suggested with reference to a dipole which was oked by the regulator (as opposed to 100w EiRP which would be ~50w to a dipole ). I didn't however think he would have gone for 100w with reference to a full size 7 ele Yagi so I didn't ask ;-) -- Brendan Minish EI6IZ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. I would be interested if you were to post the URL to this
announcement. I've searched OfCom's site, and there is no trace of this supposed notification that I can find. 73 Mike W, G8NXD -- On 27 Oct 2004 at 12:57, W9DHI wrote: > UK Amateurs Gain 7.1 - 7.2MHz from 31 October > Ofcom and the Radio Society of Great Britain are pleased to announce > that all necessary procedures required for early access to the 7.1 to > 7.2MHz spectrum for all UK radio amateurs have been finalised and that > access is allowed from 0100UTC on Sunday 31 October 2004. This information is available to all members of the RSGB and was posted
today on the members only portion of their website. By the way, RSGB is a great organization, I'm a member and have donated to their foundation. Their monthly magazine is fantastic and is worth the cost of membership. Gregg R.
