What do you use to clean the grease oils and grunge off of the front panels of old radios? I've tried several things but they leave a residue, I was wondering what the community used out there. Thank you.

Try Isopropyl Alcohol. Spring for the $1.50 bottle of the 95% alcohol rather
than the $1.00 bottle of 70% rubbing alcohol. Hi Richard,
I keep naptha, aka: lighter fluid, aka light petroleum distilate handy for a variety of cleaning uses. About $1.75 will get one 8 fl. oz. of Ronsonal by Zippo at WalMart. "Excellent for removing Labels, Grease, Tar, Oil Stains" I'm not sure what would qualify for residue free, but naptha is effective and evaporates quickly. 73, Dick - KA5KKT _____ What do you use to clean the grease oils and grunge off of the front panels of old radios? I use Simple Green diluted 50% with water. It does a good job of cutting the krud.
No residue and not harsh enough to affect the paint or lettering. Go easy and repeat if necessary. Just make sure that you have plenty of ventilation and no flames or sparks in the vicinity when you are using it. Dangerous stuff otherwise. -- 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane Elecraft K2/100 s/n 5402 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
After the initial cleaning, Endust Electronics or Multisurface is good follow up. 73, Tony W7GO ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
