For anyone needing to run multiple devices simultaneously off the K3's
ACCessory port, I've located a source of an HD15 "Y" splitter that has all 15 pins connected through, and none shorted to the shield (unlike most that are made for VGA use). I don't actually have multiple accessories to try it with, but it checks out with a continuity tester. It's part number 10H1-27708 from www.cablewholesale.com, cost $2.40ea. Hope it's useful to someone... ~Iain / N6ML ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Iain, thanks for this info; finding these with all lines independently run is difficult.
Is anyone offering a breakout box for the K3 accessory connector? Home-brewing is the obvious answer, but I thought someone might have come up with a nifty packaged solution. Chuck, AE4CW

G'day,
Continuing my investigation into PC noise I tried for the first time using the CAT interface of my microHAM CW Keyer. Basically this provides a USB to RS232 conversion CAT interface and a WinKey. For more info on the other twiddly bits see the microHAM web site. K3 on 6 metres, PR6 on, PRE OFF and the antenna port terminated with 50 ohm load. No noise. Quieter than the CAT6 based RS232 cable I use because with the cable I can just hear PC noise as I task switch and the CRT monitor updates. Previous measurements showed the directly connected KUSB to be approximately +10dB noisier than the RS232 cable. No connection with microHAM other than buying a CW Keyer a couple of years ago. Lyle,
I just ordered the brksd15hdmc DB15HD Slim Male Breakout Board as it reads and appears to be exactly what I need to use for the K3 Aux connection for FSK operation.
