Just visited our local component store to buy some bits for the N0SS
noise generator, signal genny as in K2 manual, G3PJT decoder interface, sidetone mod and tx agc power control mod, so that should keep me quiet for a few days!! Anyway they had a 3.5mm headphone jacket which looked as though it might replace the faulty one on my K2, assuming the pinouts and footprint are the same, so I bought one. The isolating switch works and is not connected to ground. This is the item and I wondered if anyone could tell me if it likely to work. If so it would save me requesting one from Elecraft. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=FK20W&doy=18m1&source=15 Chris G3SJJ _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Chris,
I do not believe it is a direct replacement, and will not work without some re-wiring. If you look at the schematic you will find that the K2 headphone jack has an extra switch that is not connected directly to either the tip or the ring circuits. That allows the switch to interrupt the path from the audio amp to the speaker connector while permitting R35, R36, C105 and C106 to be connected in the headphone circuit without affecting the speaker audio. The only headphone jack that I have been able to find that will replace the jack from Elecraft is a Kobiconn jack - Mouser www.mouser.com has it as PN 161-3503-EX. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > Just visited our local component store to buy some bits for the N0SS > noise generator, signal genny as in K2 manual, G3PJT decoder interface, > sidetone mod and tx agc power control mod, so that should keep me quiet > for a few days!! > > Anyway they had a 3.5mm headphone jacket which looked as though it might > replace the faulty one on my K2, assuming the pinouts and footprint are > the same, so I bought one. That's what I needed Don, the pin positions on the jack I have is very
different. I'll order one from Elecraft. Thanks for that. 73 Chris G3SJJ Don Wilhelm wrote: > Chris, > > I do not believe it is a direct replacement, and will not work without some > re-wiring. > If you look at the schematic you will find that the K2 headphone jack has an > extra switch that is not connected directly to either the tip or the ring > circuits.
