Hello to all on the list ....
I'm a relatively new K3 owner, and this is my first post to the group. I purchased my K3 back in March ( SN# 5331 ) and just recently purchased the P3 ( SN# 1435 ). First of all let me say the customer service is hands down the best I've ever experienced, and the user group has been a wonderful help to me, as I learn the art of operating my K3 !! I enjoy both SSB and CW.... although I don't ragchew using CW, I do chase and work DX in that mode. I have tried various headsets with my K3 including the Yamaha, that so many here on the list recommend. I have found a new headset that I like better than any I have tried, and I just wanted to recommend it to the group. I enjoy both SSB DXing and contesting and this headset is great for all SSB applications. It's the " Turtle Beach / Ear Force Z1 " ... Its a light weight gaming headset designed for PC's and it's only $29.95 ... I picked it up at Walmart. The sound of this little headset on both TX & RX will surprise you !! For more info on the headset ... go to my blog at www.n4la.com Thanks for all the tips everyone, and yes I'm a very satisfied K3 owner !! 73 de N4LA ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Thanks to the size of the market, there are hundreds of low cost headsets made for use with computers -- everything from gaming to Skype to listening to music. If you are able to sell in quantity, it's much easier to get the cost down. That's why we have the excellent Yamaha headset at such a low price, as well as the one you found. Someone on the Ten Tec list found a Koss headset that he liked a lot. Several months ago, I went shopping at Fry's for low cost headsets to use with Skype. I found a half dozen or so priced between $10 and $25, and I bought three that looked promising. All three "worked," but none was really comfortable, and one set was like having my head in a vise. Quite a few years ago, I bought a Plantronics salesman's sample kit at the Milwaukee hamfest and made connector adapters to hook them up to my computers and ham gear. All of them worked, but only one was comfortable enough to use for more than an occasional phone call. The beauty of the K3 is that, thanks to its flexibility, it can work quite well with almost anything that we can plug into it! 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
