Heil Traveller Headset

Vk2NU
Hi All,

Just a quick question...

I'm travelling to Europe soon, and am hoping to take my K2 on the trip. I currently use a bulky head-set and was looking at something a bit smaller for the trip. I've seen the Heil Traveller head-sets and wonder if anyone is using one of these with the K2.

Thanks

David, VK2NU

I've always viewed Heil products as vastly overpriced (like 5X) for
what they are. Several years ago at a hamfest, I bought four
different models of Plantronics headsets (earphone plus mic)
designed for use with cellphones. I paid about $5 each; they sell in
stores for about $20-$25. They are quite compact.

I made adapters to connect them to several of my radios, and they
work quite well -- very good audio reports on SSB, punchy, etc. I
suggest that you do the same. All it takes is a properly wired plug,
including a resistor to the mic to provide DC bias and a load.

I also made an adapter to connect them to my computer's audio card
for use on Echolink and VOIP, and they work fine in that application
too.
