Help with K60XV

John Wiener
Hi everyone,

I've been working with Gary at Elecraft on a problem getting the
K60XV to work.  Wanted to see if anybody had a similar experience or
has advice.

I was getting a resistance reading between pins 13 and 14 of U1 on
the K60XV at 99 ohms...it's supposed to be in the megohm range,
apparently.
The reading was probably thru a cap (C12?) because it started at zero
and slid up to 99 ohms.

When connected to the K2, I get the ol' "INFO 080".

After removing U1 from its socket, I still get 99 ohms between pins
13 and 14.
I removed C12...still 99 ohms
I removed R1...now open.

Any ideas?

John

RE: Help with K60XV

Don Wilhelm-3
John,

99 ohms is awfully close to the 100 ohm resistor value in the AUXbus (U1 pin
13) line, and U1 pin 13 is connected to P1 pin 8.

Look for a short between P1 pin 7 (Auxbus) and pin 8.
Make the same check with the K60XV removed from its headers.  If you find a
short with the K60XV removed from the header, check the K60XV board for the
source of the short, but if it only occurs with the K60XV plugged into its
headers, the problem is on the K2 RF Board.
