Help with KBT2

Brian -2

Hello all,

I just installed a KBT2 in my working K2.  Set my power supply to read 13.9V
on the internal K2 meter and let it charge for a couple of days.  Now that I
tried to use it I cannot transmit at all or the internal battery voltage
drops off very quickly and the radio will shut off and come back on.

I get 13V on the battery terminals and at the connector that connects to P3
with my Fluke meter.  When I plug into P3 with the K2 off I still get
battery voltage of 13V but as soon as I turn the K2 on I get 11.2V on the
internal K2 meter.  I also get 11.2 volts at P3 with my Fluke and the K2 on.
I thought it was just a bad battery that can't hold a load but I tried it
with a known good battery and it's the same voltages.  I have no idea where
to go from here.

By the way, I have a KPA100 that plugs into P3 and it works just fine.

Brian,

It sounds like you have the diode (the one inside the heat shrink)
backwards.  The anode end should be connected to the battery positive
terminal.
Cut the heat shrink off and take a look.
