Help with my KX1

Paul Gates, KD3JF

I cannot seem to get any output with the KX1. I get the reading "P=00. I presume the problem is with Q6 but have done nothing to the radio unless I tried to check the power without an antenna.

Is it an already built unit that worked previously? If so, is it in cw
test mode? (set via menu item "PLY")

Paul,

Check to see whether it is really putting out zero watts or the display
is just saying that.
Connect a dummy load and check the RF voltage across the dummy load, or
connect an external wattmeter to the KX1.

If it is really developing no power output, what do you have available
to measure RF voltages?  RF Probe or an oscilloscope with a 10X probe
would do fine - I can walk you through the measurement points.  Does it
receive a signal on the frequency that the display indicates?

It certainly could be Q6. but it could also be Q4, Q5 or Q1 - the
challenge is to find out which stage is failing.
