How to communicate with the K3 using N1mm via USB?

Jack Colson
OK I give up, I have two USB to RS-232 interface cables: 1) the Elecraft
and 2) a Radio shack.
Each cable works, I can see the comm ports listed whenchecked with
device manager/ports when they are connected to the PC.
I use the Elecraft cable for firmware downloads to the K3 successfully.

Communicating with my Yaesu FT-100D using either cable and N1MM  works
perfect.  Subsitute the K3 and nada.  There must be a simple solution to
this situation!
What am I missing?  Help !

Using a WIN98 PC which has a standard RS-232 port and N1MM  and K3 work
perfect.

Thank you,
73
Jack, W3TMZ

Hello Jack,
I am using serial to USB cables with the K3 and N1mm and also Winkey.
all working fb. Do you have the same baud rate set on the K3 as in n1mm?
If the utility software works with the serial to USb cable it should work.
