After months of reading the list and one post, I jumped in.
Just ordered a K1-4 w/atu. Seems like if you want a rig that doesn't consider cw an "oh, by the way, it can do that as well" option, it narrows it down to Elecraft and Ten-Tec. That is where customer support seems to take over and narrow it down to Elecraft. The ft-817 was my 3rd choice in a qrp portable, (kx1 being my 2nd), but the obvious "cw first" concept of Elecraft, combined with the level of technical discussion on the reflector (including responses from the lead gurus) made it a no brainer. Is there any experiences with the Palm Radio mini paddles? any other ideas for a set of portable friendly paddles? I found it very easy to adjust to have a great feel. You can adjust the spacing, the tension, and also set it to have either hard or soft stops. I like how it retracts to prevent damage, and I like the multiple mounting options (the base can use magnets, screws, or double sided tape, and can attach to the bottom, top, or either side). I used mine with my base radio for some time, and would be quite happy to use one as a permanent base paddle. I didn't feel it was a compromise at all. I'm now using it mobile, and it works great there too. I tried all sorts of things and the Palm mini paddle is great little paddle.
It ain't cheap, but iit IS GOOD! I had a "Bulldog" paddle I used and liked very much, but it's "life" isn't very long! Wore it out too fast so didn't get another one! 73, Sandy W5TVW ----- Original Message ----- From: <[hidden email]> To: <[hidden email]> Sent: Thursday, April 13, 2006 9:37 PM Subject: [Elecraft] I'm In!!!/palm paddles | After months of reading the list and one post, I jumped in. | Just ordered a K1-4 w/atu. Many thanks to all who responded to my post. There are plenty of options to mull over on the paddles. First things first, I guess. Now is the time to clear the bench and dust off the scope.

One possibility is to get the Elecraft paddles for the KX1 and either
mounting them on a base or making a bracket or something that allows their use with the K1. 73 de Alex NS6Y On Apr 14, 2006, at 2:03 PM, <[hidden email]> wrote: > Many thanks to all who responded to my post. Sandy:
I have both the Palm mini paddle and American Morse Porta Paddle. I prefer the American Morse paddle. http://tyrrell.us/amateur/ click on American Morse. However I think I really would like a single lever paddle, any one have one they want to sell? Ty, W1TF __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
