IC Sockets

Dave Sublette-2
I am building the KI02 RS 232 interface module for the K2 transceiver.  Is
there any reason why I can't use a low profile IC socket for this part?
The reason I am building this one is to replace the old one in my K2.  The
old one died and I suspect it is the IC Max1406.

Your thoughts, please.

Thanks,

Dave, K4TO

Re: IC Sockets

Dave,

With that IC running at the slow rate of 4800 baud, there should be no
problem with using a socket for it.

If you also have the switch for the KBT2 option installed, there will be
a tighter fit, but it should clear with a low profile socket.
