Iambic Keying

W4CCS
Purchased a new Vibroplex at Dayton and having some difficulty getting
it going. I have been using a keyboard for several years and wanted to
maintain my sending skills (as much as they are).

With the plug inserted in the "paddle" input, All I get is a dot dash
dot dash no matter which paddle I push. I cannot see anything in the
config menu that addresses this problem.

Any ideas..??

Plug it into the "Key" jack, next to "Paddle"

That behavior indicates that the dot and dash contacts are connected
together somewhere.  It could be at the paddle, in the cable, or at the
plug.
You can confirm that by checking continuity between the tip and ring of
the stereo plug - they should show infinite resistance, but in your case
I think you will find it to be close to zero ohms.

If this is a semi-auto bug it needs to be connected to the Key jack just to the
right of the paddle input, not the paddle input.  Just move it to the appropriate
connection and you should be good to go.

.I have one and it works fine with my K3. You are:
1. Hooking up a three wire to stereo 1/4 Inc. plugs. Making sure the
wiring is correct.
2. It is pluged to electric key plug, in the back.
3. In the menu you have it sent to electric key.
4. Check weighting and speed.

microHAM microKEYER II should not effect the operation
of the K3's internal keyer.  Connections to the ACC
port are FSK, ground and PTT only.  If you are seeing
problems when plugging properly configured paddles into
the K3 "paddle" jack, you have a configuration error
outside microHAM microKEYER II or microHAM Router as I
make certain there is no destructive interaction between
microHAM products and the K3 (of which I have a pair).
