Hi,
Is there a way to connect KRC2 to the MK2R outputs in order to switch BPF / Antennas with Icom radios? The KRC2 supports the band decode outputs of Elecraft, Icom, Yaesu,
and Kenwood -- so the answer should be Yes. But you mention both MK2R and Icom - you cannot use both at one time. 73, Don W3FPR On 5/10/2011 6:14 PM, Robert Bajuk wrote: > Hi, > > Is there a way to connect KRC2 to the MK2R outputs in order to switch BPF / > Antennas with Icom radios? > > Regards, > > Robert > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html > Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

The answer is yes. Since the KRC-2 does not decode Icom CI-V data, configure MK2R to output HEX/BCD "Band Data" on the ACC ports (one for each transceiver) and connect that BCD data to the "Yaesu" inputs of the KRC-2 (again, one for each rig). You have two choices for the source of HEX/BCD data ... option 1 is to have MK2R/Router generate the HEX/BCD code based on the frequency returned by the transceiver (CAT decode) while option 2 is to allow the logging program (N1MM Logger or Win-Test) to set the appropriate output using the microHAM Control Protocol. This capability is not limited to the KRC-2 ... any decoder capable of HEX to 1 of 16 or BCD to 1 of 10 decoding (e.g., TopTen BD-Y or W9XT BCD-10, etc.) will work the same way. 73, ... If that's the case, MK2R+ can (re)generate CI-V data on the ACC port (again one for each radio) which can be fed to the KRC-2. The KRC-2 and MK2R can not be connected in parallel to the transceiver. 73, ... > The KRC2 does analog Icom band decoding, not CI-V. MK2R+ can not regenerate Icom analog. In that case, MK2R+ should be used in the HEX/BCD mode or the KRC-2 connected directly to the Icom transceivers. If the KRC-2 is connected directly to the rig, it could be used for BPF selection based on the band and another decoder can be driven from MK2R+ for antenna selection (multiple/alternate antennas per band) using the microHAM Control Protocol data from N1MM Logger. 73, ...
