Eric,
The KX3 may need some sort of interface for digital modes because it has
galvanic isolation on the audio lines. So keep it until you get your
KX3 up and running so you can experiment between the SL and direct
connection to your computer soundcard.
I like to be safe and use a galvanic isolator to keep the noise to a
minimum.
