I just found there is a SSTV repeater in VK5 on 14236 and it requires a
1750Hz tone for access, any way to do this ? 73 Cliff ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

Only in FM mode. it is one of the CTCSS tone choices.

IT's hard to figure how a 1750 "tone" would control a repeater on HF.
And, I doubt that the system is a true repeater. Possibly, it's a -re- transmitter- where a signal could be received, recorded, and then immediately re-transmitted. An unattended system like that would not be permitted in the US, by maybe it's OK in VK-land. It might be possible to have your computer (presuming a computer is used to display the SSTV video) generate a 1750 tone for you. If you have the DVR recorder module, you could record -that- tone into the K3, and have it available to trigger the "repeater" station. Just a thought. 73 de Ray K2ULR On Dec 12, 2012, at 11:36 PM, Lyle Johnson wrote: > Only in FM mode. it is one of the CTCSS tone choices. > > 73, > > Lyle Kk7P > >> I just found there is a SSTV repeater in VK5 on 14236 and it >> requires a >> 1750Hz tone for access, >> >> any way to do this ? > > ______________________________________________________________ > Elecraft mailing list > Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft > Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm > Post: mailto:[hidden email] > > This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net > Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I *think* I recall reading about a freeware computer program that would
generate US touch-tones (CTCSS) with a standard sound card. Google might be your friend here. 73, Pete N4ZR Check out the Reverse Beacon Network at http://reversebeacon.net, blog at reversebeacon.blogspot.com. For spots, please go to your favorite ARC V6 or VE7CC DX cluster node. Touch-tones are DTMF (dual-tone multi-frequency). CTCSS is Continuous
Tone-Coded Squelch System. They're quite different animals ;) Audacity as a tone-generator function. I'd try that first..... http://audacity.sf.net/ 73, ~iain / N6ML On Thu, Dec 13, 2012 at 6:09 AM, Pete Smith N4ZR <[hidden email]> wrote: > I *think* I recall reading about a freeware computer program that would > generate US touch-tones (CTCSS) with a standard sound card. A free software program which will generate one audio tone, or two separate
audio tones, is TCube. This program can be found by Googling Tcube. The frequency range covered by each tone generator is 1 Hz to 10 kHz. Mouse clicks allow fine tuning in steps of 1 Hz. The output level of each generator can be varied by approx 38 db. The program includes a spectrum analyzer for use at audio. An option provides outputs in quadrature. 73, Geoff LX2AO On December 14, 2012 at 7:39 AM, Iain macdonnell - N6ML - wrote: <snip> > Audacity as a tone-generator function. They're quite different animals ;) I may be stating the obvious, but IIRC a tone burst of 1750 Hz is a standard way of turning a repeater/remote on in Europe. This is neither DTMF nor CTCSS. 73 de K2ASP - Phil Kane Elecraft K2/100 s/n 5402 From a Clearing in the Silicon Forest Beaverton (Washington County) Oregon ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
