When I enable QRQ mode, the SHIFT control is locked at the center of the passband (*0.60).
o If I disable QRQ through the Config menu, functionality of the SHIFT control is restored. o If I disable QRQ mode by turning on an incompatible VFO mode -- RIT, for example -- functionality of the SHIFT control is restored. o If I turn on APF while in QRQ mode, SHIFT works. If I turn off APF, SHIFT reverts to *0.60 and is locked until I disable QRQ. Is this normal behavior for QRQ mode? I’ve looked through the release notes, and I can’t find anywhere that it says SHIFT is locked to the center of the passband when QRQ mode is engaged. Bill,
No bug - that is the way it is. If you check the firmware release notes for MCU 4.03 you will find it stated that you cannot use shift while QRQ is active. Yes, it does not explicitly say that the shift is locked to the passband center. In firmware MCU 4.22 release notes, you will find APF. It says when APF is turned on, the regular SHIFT is frozen, and the SHIFT control is then used to control the APF (but not the IF SHIFT). 73, Don W3FPR On 7/18/2011 6:30 AM, Bill VanAlstyne W5WVO wrote: > When I enable QRQ mode, the SHIFT control is locked at the center of the passband (*0.60). > > o If I disable QRQ through the Config menu, functionality of the SHIFT control is restored. > > o If I disable QRQ mode by turning on an incompatible VFO mode -- RIT, for example -- functionality of the SHIFT control is restored. > > o If I turn on APF while in QRQ mode, SHIFT works. As Don has said, this is normal.
The reason why some of this is done is because the items which are disabled in plus mode require "settling time" and are users of CPU budget during RX/TX/RX transitions. Blinding QSK doesn't have any time to mess around. There is an as yet only outlined intention on Wayne's part to allow some very limited aspect of the disabled functions and an automatic passage between normal and plus mode to make things more seamless. 73, Guy.
