K2 # 4320 Heard its first signal at 0153 utc on 7.036
K4EEG working someone in the noise.
I was really taken with the way this radio receives
I had gotton a signal right off bat before peaking L34
and I had started listening and was amazed at how well
it receives. It is very quiet no hiss like my MarkV
and I sat there and just listened for about a half
hour and then realized that I still needed to peak the
L1 L2 to maximize receive. I had forgotten about
completing the alignment just because I was listening
then My 14 yr old daughter said Dad Are you going to
do the L1/L2 to complete the step? OH Yeah OOPS but
that to made a big difference Had to turn down the
volume. All in all it has been a very good project
with little mistakes up to now Those were MY OWN
nothing major All my parts were in the bag, The vco
voltage table voltages were all with in spec the kit
in my opinion is unbeatable for design of just
building. its clever at how they have layed the board
out utilizing both sides in order to avoid having to
use surface mount Tech. But of course you all already
know that any way, BTW Gotta get it finished about
another week I suppose then on to the 160m Module (My
Favorite band of operation)
Then on to the SSB Then take a break and on to the K1
That I won at the Orlando Hamcation back in Feb.
