Just Checked MDS values on my K2

m0bmn
Hi All

Just built the XG1 test oscillator and tested out the K2

I also have a number of other radios here that I can compare it against,
only tested a few so far but here are my results

K2  Filter set to 0.7 (which is same as 500Hz filter ,so the manual says)
AGC off, MDS value in CW Mode  :   -139dBm    Not Bad!

FT1000MP MK V with 500Hz filter  active, AGC off,  CW mode :    -137dBm
Still not bad

FT897D with 500Hz filter active ,AGC off, CW mode  :    134dBM  anything
over -130dBM isn’t bad.

So there you go ,still got to test a ft817ND and the icom 703Plus out but
that will another day, well done Elecraft !

All the best

You must compare radios with same bandwidth if You want to do the
comparision chart.
So first measure the -3dB bandpass of filters on 1KMP and K2 and then
compare measurments in dBc/Hz.
K2 is not bad at all on RX.
My measurments:

The TX chain has "some" problems, with elevated power or transverters with
high power amps attached.
Still have no time to finish hard mods of TX mixing ( i wish Elecraft would
have used same solution on Tx as on RX :)

Best DX!

And Yes, the MDS is also -139dBm at my K2 but this is not a sign, how good
the RTx is....because preamplifiers are doing their job :)
