Esteemed Reflectees;
I have historically done my SO2R operating with a pair of FT1KMPs and a home brew black box constructed from the directions in the NA manual. I used NA as the logging program. It all worked VERY well. Recently I have upgraded the primary contest radios to Elecraft K-3s, and the logging computer to one which does not have com ports on it. I have also started using N1MM as a Windows base logging program. So, nearly the whole combination is new. I have been unable to get my "black box" to work with N1MM and and USB to serial adaptors. The reason for this message request is for someone out there to assist me so I don't have to totally reinvent the wheel with my new acquisition. I have taken the plunge and purchased one of the MicroHam MK2R+ devices. I have set it up as near to the instructions in the MK2R+ manual and the N1MM manual that I can discern. I find both manuals not totally in tune with the other's requirements and I am sure somewhere I have checked a box that shouldn't be or failed to check a box that should be checked. I have the radios talking to N1MM and I have both TX and RX audio passing through the MK2R+ box. What I have not been able to make work is the PTT and the audio codec recordings for SSB. I have not yet tried to set up CW or RTTY. So, after all that explanation, is there someone(s) out there who might have this combo playing that could give me some direction of what to look for that is causing the lack of PTT response and how to make the audio codec recordings play. I am using the Heil Pro headset. Ideally, I would like to call someone on the telephone who has this combo working and go over the setup step by step until the problem is discovered. Anyone out there fit the description? If so, reply to me directly with your contact info and availability timing. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Hi Milt,
I'm not fully in your configuration, but fighted long time with the black box Microham (USB III) linked to K3. The most difficult point is to set-up the "router". In the first time I used my latest computer (HP) with pre-installed Vista. Even exchanging many emails with Jozef (OM7ZZ) from Microham, I was still not able to have my interface working properly. I can suppose that MK2R is the same story. When setting up the router under Vista, one time it works, one time no.....even using the latest firmware. So I tried also to make it work under Linux/Ubuntu, this was more easy....nothing to install, Linux can drive directly the black box. But.....I have some important programs running only under Windows, so I decided to come back under Win XP...... and now thing looks really better. In the router parameters you can see another tab section with audio parameters, that I have never been able to see under Vista..... In order to help, Microham send me a link of Microham users : "Link to our Yahoo group is" http://groups.yahoo.com/group/microHAM May be there, you will find some explanations to your troubles. I'm not using N1MM software (I'm not a contester), but using WSPR and my parameters are as follow: Audio in : USB audio codec Audio out : USB audio codec Ptt method : DTR And in the K3 config menu, I needed to set "PTT-KEY" to : RTS-OFF , do not requestest me why.....I don't know, but it is working pretty xell. If you want I can send you some screen shoots of my parameters. Request me directly on my email f6fcd (at) orange.fr 73, Lionel, Paris, France |

Hi, Milt - I went through the K3/MK2r+/N1MM migration. I found the best source of info to be PA1M at http://www.pa1m.nl/pa1m/index.php?page=setup-pa1m---current
If you go through his setup, you should be able to make everything work. If you run into some snags, feel free to contact me direct at jpescatore at aol dot com and we could set up a phone call. 73, John K3TN |
