Hi,
I'm setting up the rig to operate from a remote location over the Internet. On page 43, the manual has a very brief description of how to turn the radio on and off. If I activate a relay remotely to ground Pin 8 on the ACC socket, I can turn the radio on. Will it hurt anything if I use a relay that keeps this pin on ground the entire time the radio is ON? Or do I need a momentary contact relay to just give it the brief connection to ground? Then to turn it off, the manual states that a PS0 cat command should be sent. Then deactivate the POWER ON signal. Specifically, after sending a cat command PS0, will I simply have to remove the ground from Pin 8 on the ACC socket? Or how will this be accomplished? Thanks for the input. Art KZ5D **************An Excellent Credit Score is 750. See Yours in Just 2 Easy Steps! Art,
I don't have specific information about it, so I can just give a guess. If I were implementing a remote power on/power off sequence, I would activate the relay for power on. Whether I de-activate it after a few seconds, I don't know, but for certain on power off, I would first deactivate the relay and then send the PS0 command to the K3. If I sent the PS0 first and then deactivated the power on relay, there is a chance of a delay between those two event, and the K3 could power off and then power on again because ACC pin 8 is still grounded. In rapid-fire sequence, it may not make a difference, but why not do it in the best order first and be done with any possible problems. 73, Don W3FPR [hidden email] wrote: > Hi, > > > I'm setting up the rig to operate from a remote location over the Internet. > On page 43, the manual has a very brief description of how to turn the > radio on and off. > > If I activate a relay remotely to ground Pin 8 on the ACC socket, I can > turn the radio on.
