I am having trouble with the K-3. When I xmit for a period of time the
Display starts to fluctuates with the modulation in my voice. The longer I am on the more rapidly it fluctuates till it shuts down the K-3. I have removed all external cables and even done this with a dummy load. I have a DX engineering Current chock at the entrance to the house and at the antenna. I am told that people can here RF on the signal. Any suggestions? Gerald,
Have you checked the power cable? Are the connector blades of the APP connector fully inserted and locked over the locking blades in the housing? Are the connections to the power supply tight? Too much resistance in the power cabling (due to loose connections) can cause exactly what you are observing. 73, Don W3FPR On 2/4/2014 3:32 PM, [hidden email] wrote: > I am having trouble with the K-3. Rick:
Checked the connections. All are good now. Spread the spades on the PowerPoles on all connections and tightened the Ground and made the power connections tighter. Seems to work fine now. Just contacted a Bloke in Montreal Canada and it seemed to work fine. When transmitting the unit pulls about 15 amps. Has that been your experience with the amperage? Does it maintain voltage? Any current clamping going on? Etc. 73.......Rick -----Original Message----- From: Don Wilhelm [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Tuesday, February 04, 2014 2:45 PM To: [hidden email]; [hidden email] Cc: [hidden email] Subject: Re: [Elecraft] K-3 Gerald, Have you checked the power cable? Along that same line as Don suggests you look at; do you have a power
supply with a variable voltage & current? I have an Astron with both on the front panel and I was having troubles till I realized I had bumped the controls to the PS and that was my problem. 73, Gary, KA1J > Gerald, > > Have you checked the power cable? Punch the "DISP" button and dial up the power supply voltage via the "B"
knob. That way you can check to see if you are getting good power. A drop of a few tenths of a volt on TX is normal. 73 Jack KZ5A On 2/4/2014 2:32 PM, [hidden email] wrote: > I am having trouble with the K-3.
