Greetings,
I have just started to build my K1-4 for which I have also bought the LCD backlight mod. After mounting the MCU into its socket on the front panel board (step 5 on page 21) I have to continue with the instructions of the backlight mod. Here, the first step is to remove the MCU from the socket. I'm puzzled... Is it really neccessary to remove the MCU right after it has been mounted? If so, wouldn't it have been better to jump to the backlight instructions before mounting the MCU in the first place? I guess I'm just too tired and lazy at 23:45 and I will do exactly as the instructions say when I continue tomorrow, but if anybody could explain why this is neccessary... Alex:
When the K1 backlight instructions were written (by me), it was assumed that many of the backlights would be installed in already-built K1s. So the builder was just instructed to unplug the MCU... it should NOT have been soldered in, so the only added effort you should have to expend is to pull the IC and replace it later. Sorry for any added inconvenience this may have caused you. 73, Tom Hammond N0SS At 04:53 PM 3/2/2006, you wrote: >Greetings, > >I have just started to build my K1-4 for which I have also bought the >LCD backlight mod. Hello Tom,
Thanks for your reply. It's really no problem. I just thought for a short moment that I have missed something. I find the instructions very clear with good illustrations. Thanks. 73 Alex OZ9AEC On 3/3/06, Tom Hammond <[hidden email]> wrote: > Alex: > > When the K1 backlight instructions were written (by me), it was > assumed that many of the backlights would be installed in > already-built K1s.
