K1 Backlight to become standard?

Has there been any decision made whether to make a backlit LCD standard on
the K1?
Or will one have to order the K1 Kit, and the backlight "mod" and thereby
end up paying for an extra LCD?

The lack of a lit display had been my chief K1 nit to pick. I'd recommend it
be made standard.
