K1 Bandwidth

Jim Curione

What is the BW of the signal produced by the K1?

I was keying on 3.550 last night and noticed my Kenwood TS-480's S meter responding on 3.560.

I thought the BW would be more in line with a 1kHz wide signal.

Thanks in advance,

Jim C

Re: K1 Bandwidth

I'm sure it was the TS-480 responding to a signal within it's bandwidth
(probably several KHz, maybe more) and not the bandwidth of your cw signal
from the K1.  The bandwidth of a slowly sent cw signal is essentially zero.

Yeah - wouldn't that be more of a question about the front end of the TS-480 receiver than the bandwidth of the K1? Shoot, my friend and I were side by side during the flight of the bumblebees and my Yaesu FT840 was responding to his K2 even a few Mhz away. We basically couldn't work in the same band. But going the other way was a different story - the K2 couldn't hear me at all when the tables were turned.

Whoops - I meant Khz, not Mhz.
