While biding my time for a wintertime K3, I've been building a K1. What a
treat! Can't exactly explain why, but somehow this is so far a more
amazing rig than my K2. A trouble-free build (as was the K2) to date.
Mostly done with the TX except for the last two toroids and alignment. RX
alignment went well. Been listening tonight on 30 and 40. What a sweet
clean sounding little rig. Can't wait to take it on some of my hikes in the
Boulder foothills and mountains. May eventually modify the long hang time
on the audio AGC, but otherwise am totally awestruck with the performance of
this unit. Excellent sensitivity and selectivity. Small, light, minimal
complexity, low power drain, 4 bands. An excellent design. My T1 tuner is
anxious to hook up with it.
Thank you again Elecraft for hours of enjoyment - and I haven't even
transmitted dit number one yet!
