Phil,
There are electric fences on the farms that surround my QTH. The K1 noise blanker is a God-send for killing the steady pop-pop-pop day-in, day-out. For the trivial price Elecraft asks, it was a bargain for me. 73 Bill N4LG At 09:21 PM 2/23/2012, you wrote: >My summer project will likely be the K1 -- yet another fine >Elecraft product to add to my QRP collection. If you don't buy the KNB1, you won't have the connector that installs on the K1 RF PCB. In that case, you'd be wise to only tack in RF-C22 *away* from the holes for the KNB1 connector, so you don't risk damaging any traces if later you get the KNB1 and then must remove C22 to install the connector. I have not often needed the KNB1 in the eleven years I've had the K1, but when it has been needed (I operate portable a lot), it's been well worth the price. For a couple of years in my neighborhood, an odd digital-like noise was continuous on 20m and 15m. The KNB1 on HIGH threshold made it vanish. The more extreme LOW threshold is, as one would expect, more troublesome from an IMD and dynamic blocking range performance aspect, so I've never used the LOW threshold setting. 73, Mike / KK5F ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
