I am curious abt a power supply for the K1. The instruction book calls for a 12-14V unit. How careful do I need to be abt the amperage?

Al,
Check the Specifications section of the manual. You should find that the current draw at 5 watts is less than 1 Amp. If your K1 has options, that current draw may increase a bit, but in any case, a 3 watt power source should be more than adequate - actually a 1 amp supply may suffice, but if you are investing in a power supply consider allowing some reserve, hence my recommendation for a 3 watt or greater supply. Resist the temptation to use a wall wart supply - the voltages on some of the 12 volt wall warts can be as high as 17 volts - use a regulated supply rated at 12 to 13.8 volts. 73, Don W3FPR Al & Dianne Bruce wrote: > I am curious abt a power supply for the K1. Err, did you mean 3 amp instead of 3 watt? 1 amp at 12v = 12 watts,
of course. I have found the MFJ-4103 (2.89 A) to be a suitable supply for my K2 (except that the output isn't quite high enough to maintain battery charge with the KBT2 installed) and it should be a good choice for the K1 also. It's a quiet lightweight switcher which will work on both 120 and 240 volt systems. 73 - Bob, N7XY On Mar 18, 2007, at 10:46 PM, Don Wilhelm wrote: > Al, > > Check the Specifications section of the manual.
