I have noticed that when I am using my K1 that if I don't do anything for
awhile it suddenly gets quiet and volume goes way down. This may be a stupid question but does the K1 have a sleep mode or hibernation mode, in the firmware or something?? I was wondering as I have another radio that has that. Michael E. Michael,
Sorry to report that the K1 does not have any sleep or hibernation state - it should always be 'ready to go' as long as it is powered on. What do you do to recover once the problem condition is reached? Behavior of that nature *could* be the result of a poor solder connection that is temperature sensitive, or it could be oxidation on a socketed IC lead. Try re-seating any socketed component to wipe away any oxidation. If you cover the K1 with an overturned Styrofoam encolsure, does the condition happen more rapidly? If you first cool the K1 (put it in the refrigerator) and then turn it on, is the time period to failure longer? If the answer to one or both these questions is yes, then you have a temperature related problem. 73, Don W3FPR Michael E.
