K1 and the Outdoors

Jay Blass
My guess is that people hike so they can operate their Elecraft Radios, not necessarily the other way around. The radio changes their attitude so they plan trips based on being able to set up their stations.

Same here. I was hiking and camping way before I got back active with radio
in the field. It just enhances the trips already planned. The only time I've
thought about planning a trip around radio is for Field Day and similar QRP
events...That's an awful lot of gear to buy if you are only into camping and
hiking in support of radio ;-)
