I have had the battery option for several months but did not like the idea
of loose AA's
in a holder. Finally I bought a couple of 9.6V packs from BatterySpace.
These were 2
batteries and a smart charger for $30. Its only 1800ma but it will serve me
well.
The batteries however were constructed 4 over 4 and I needed 4 side-by-side
4? So I cut
it in half and removed the weld bands. Bent the 4 over to make 4x4. Taped it
all in position.
And soldered some old resister leads where the welds were removed. I glued
a piece of
cardboard over the exposed soldered end. It fits perfectly in the battery
space and I have a
single battery pack I can remove and charge. The pack had an R/C connector
that I use
to diconnect from the K1.
My only concern is the use of solder on the AA's. Would appreciate some
info on whether
this was a good Idea?
Ron
