Check the errata sheet that came with your kit, the changes to the
2SC5739 at Q6 are explained there. Yes, it is OK to use.
The thermal pads are normally in the Serial Number envelope - open it
and check. The thermal pad assists heat transfer from the pad to the
mounting surface (in the case of Q6 that is the board ground plane), so
the thermal pads are still required. If you do not have them, an email
to
[hidden email] with a brief explanation should get them in the
mail to you.
