(I sent this earlier and it didn't seem to get posted. If it is a
duplicate, sorry for the bandwidth.) While I am waiting for my XG2 to arrive I would like to discuss the problem that I am experiencing. On 20M my K1 is outputting on 20.17 mhz with gravelly tone, the is VCO set at14.00 mhz. All other bands are on frequency (+- a couple of K) with pure tone. Also with a 100' wire antenna, I am receiving CW just fine on 15M, 30M and 40M. On 20M just hiss with an occasional birdy. Output on all bands including 20M is 5W. All voltage and resistance checks are good. I have checked my soldering and even re-soldered X2 with no help. The only other components exclusive to 20M is C3, C4, CC, and CD which all adjust OK during the band alignments. I am suspicious that X2 is off frequency but I want to go through the receiver and VFO signal tracing (come on XG2!) and transmitter tracing before I start replacing anything. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. 73 Larry KB5DXY _______________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Post to: [hidden email] You must be a subscriber to post to the list. Larry,
I assume a 4 band filter board. Are the trimmers on the filter board set near the center point? If not, realign the 15 and 20 meter filters. It is possible to align the frequency of the higher band too high and end up with an off frequency signal. Set the trimmers to the center, then adjust 15 meters first and 20 meters second. Note that the upper two bands can be aligned independently of the lower two bands. 73, Don W3FPR > -----Original Message----- > > While I am waiting for my XG2 to arrive I would like to discuss the > problem that I am experiencing. Thanks Don, That was the problem. All bands are now working correctly. 73 Larry kb5dxy Don Wilhelm wrote: Larry, I assume a 4 band filter board.
