I'd like to hear some more reviews on the K144XV. I've got mine on order and
hoping it arrives before the P3 is shipping. But heck I'd love to setup both at the same time. Anyone who has had theirs long enough to warrant an eham review I would love to read your thoughts. So far only one person has had the time to post something. Any others have theirs? Also if someone has recently gotten theirs I'd be interested if you could mention when youu ordered. Thanks much gentlemen. ~Brett (KC7OTG) ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |

I guess the only reviewer so far does very little FM as he did not think to
lower the deviation on FM :) 73 Ian -- Ian J Maude, G0VGS SysOp GB7MBC & HB9DRV-9 DX Clusters Member RSGB, GQRP 9838, FISTS 14077 | K3 #455 http://www.amateurradiotraining.org On 1 March 2010 10:53, Brett Howard <[hidden email]> wrote: > You can post reviews here: > http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/8717 > > > On Mon, 2010-03-01 at 00:23 -0800, Brett Howard wrote: > > I'd like to hear some more reviews on the K144XV. I also ordered mine at Dayton and received it last week. It is installed and
working 100%. I'm seeing the full 10 watts output. RX seems very good. Two small problems with the install. The supplied cross brace had one screw hole mis-aligned. Also the three screws to mount the 144XV to the side panel were missing. I used three brass screws I had on hand. A short call to Elecraft and a new cross-brace and the three missing matching black screws are on the way to me. I could of drilled out the bulkhead to accommodate the misaligned screw hole but didn't want to get any metal chips inside of my K3. If the original brace didn't have metal removed from the 144XV area I could of just trimmed it to fit around the 144XV. But if I did this it would of weakened it to the point that its purpose would have been defeated. It will be a simple job to replace the brace when it arrives. I won't even have to pull the K3 offline. I'm not complaining about the two small hardware issues. As it was from the first group ,one can expect some minor fit and finish problems. I would give it an EHAM 5 of 5 ! 73 Jeff kb2m On 3/1/2010 2:23 AM, Brett Howard wrote: > Also if someone has recently gotten > theirs I'd be interested if you could mention when youu ordered. mailing list ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[hidden email] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html |
Good point! I just checked my stainless steel screw kit and noticed
that there are 3 of the small flat head screws that hold the sides and top on.... I assume that those are the replacements to put into the K144XV. Does one need a longer version of that screw or are they the same as the 9 that hold the top on? ~Brett On Mon, 2010-03-01 at 09:17 -0500, Jeff KB2M wrote: > I also ordered mine at Dayton and received it last week. Also interesting would be for what purpose the K144 has been bought. In Europe a big part of the VHF-community are contesters working cw and ssb. I dont think that we have to many K144-users for FM chatting.
Speaking for myself I couldn't wait longer because our contest season starts next weekend. I had to cancel my order and bought a DB6NT Transverter (TR144H+40) instead which is cooperating absolutely flawless with my K3 and a BEKO HLV-750 amp. The only drawback is the price ;( regards, Juergen (dl4maq) |
