K144xv power output

Hi all,

I should reduce the output power of the K144XV to a level of less than 1 Watt.
I need this because I use the 144 MHz band to drive my microwave transverter.
I tried to adjust the parameter "config XV1 PWR" to the value L .01 but the output power does not drop below 3 W.
Then I thought of two possible solutions:

1) insert an attenuator on the cable "IF IN" of the K144XV
2)try adjusting the trimmer R87 on the K144XV

Which is the best solution?
