[K2] 10 meter power out

kd1na
I am having problems finding information on a resistor value adjustment to bring the K2 power out on 10 meters to the correct value. If you have information please contact me directly.
Thanks in advance.

  Dave,

There is no resistor value adjustment for 10 meter power output level.
You may have been mislead by the application note that refers to the
oscillation of the power control level when the KPA100 is installed.  In
applying that mod, the value of R98 is increased until the power starts
to drop off at 10 meters.

The transmit gain is least on 10 meters, so you might experience lower
power out on that band than any other.  The actual power out will vary
depending on component tolerances and care taken during construction.
The winding and mounting of T2 is critical for good 10 meter
performance.  T2 must be wound just like the diagram in the manual, and
should be mounted 1/16 to 1/8 inch above the board.  If you have some of
the double-sided foam tape available, cut a bit of it about 3/16 inch
square and stack 2 layers under T2.

On a normal working K2/10, you should achieve at least 10 watts out on
10 meters, 12 watts or higher is good - this is working into a dummy
load and using a 13.8 volt power supply.  There are too many other
variables, like feedline reactance when working into an antenna.  The K2
must see a 50 ohm resistive load to operate at specification.  Once the
KAT2 or KAT100 is added, that restriction is relaxed substantially.
