K2/100 AM (MW) Broadcast Intermods on 80m - Partial Conclusions

walter renner
Tom NOSS, mentioned in an E-mail to me that there may be others that may be
interested in the articles that I found on the ARRL web site that were
related to what I had experienced with  BC intermod on 160 and 80M.

Although there were more than I will list here, these are the ones I found
use full for me:
Sep. 1998 QEX #57 "A narrow 80 meter Band Pass Filter" By Zack Lau.
Nov 1992 QST "Eliminating AM BC Interference on 160" By Zack Lau.
"Reducing Broadcast Station Interference" 1976 ARRL Handbook.
Joe Carr's Radio Tech-Notes #6 "Dealing with AM Broadcast Interference to
you Rescue"

Joe Carr's Tech-Note is the one that I used to build my High-Pass filter as
diagramed on
page 6 Fig.3.
I did replace L1 and L2 with T94-2's available for Elecraft parts, and wound
them with 19T
of #26 enamel wire. Caps were from my junk box.
I believe that rectification was taking place in the TR circuit in the
KPA100, but my
efforts to verify that was much like a dog chasing his tail.
Placing the High-Pass filter in line worked for me.

Did you verify that the T/R bias was at least 90V?
