K2/100 Transmit Problems

Ron McCurdy

I have had my KPA100 installed and working properly before.  I had to remove it to work on transmit power problems in the base K2.  All of the problems in the base K2 were solved.  It will now transmit at 2, 5, or 10 watts on all bands.  When I connect it to the KPA100, I get .1 watt 1-0 no matter where the power setting is and that’s on all bands.  Some bands have a little different SWR reading but none will conduct RF.  The manual says to check soldered joints and transformers and coils which I’ve done.  They all seem to be doing fine.  Reception is no problem at all.  Where do I start to find my problem??

Ron,

Check the input coax to the KPA100 - look for a broken shield at the
KPA100 board or at the other end, look for malformed crimp pins or crimp
pins that are not properly inserted in the housing.
Since it worked before you removed it, look for the simplistic stuff first.

If it is not the input coax, the next step would be to look at the
wattmeter - T4 and vicinity to see if there is anything loose there.
