K2/100 damaged on expedition

g7vjr
Hi all

The GH6UW expedition went well, and the K2 performed amazingly, but
on the last day something went wrong with it. The tuning now has gaps
where the RF disappears, and tuning just slightly over the gap the
signal recovers, but has pulse-like noise on it. I've tried a full
reset and some other simple measures to no avail.

I suspect the K2 was damaged by RF from our second station, although
there were band filters in place. I've just been running through
various tests using the frequency probe and RF probe assembly.

In the PLL Range test (frequency counter on TP3) I get a reading of
00423.00 to 00425.00, and it is oscillating rapidly (correct reading
would be 12090 +/- 30kHz).

When I use the RF probe on U4 pin 1, I get 0.00v (correct reading
would be in the range 0.8 - 1.8Vrms).

All other RF probe tests have been tried and give correct/in-range
readings as listed in the manual.

I suspect that the reference oscillator, U4, has been destroyed. Does
anyone have any other suggestions on this before I email in to order
replacement parts?
