In addition to the K2/100's low current drain, it has the advantage of
a second, lower-current DC input that can be used with a small gel-cell
(that is, the regular K2 DC input jack). If you have a battery
connected here, and the 20-amp supply plugged into the APP connector
goes down, the K2/100 will drop into bypass mode and continue to
operate at the 10 to 15 watt level. It won't even drop out of TX mode
-- the station at the other end will simply hear a 10 dB drop in power
output.
This should be great for emergency applications.
