I own neither yet, but I have an IC746 that serves me fine for now as a 100W
base rig.
In this situation I am leaning towards the K2/QRP as a next rig, for the
reason of portability. An excellent transceiver with a battery pack, an
antenna tuner and all, ready to take along on travels or put up wherever I
go. Also a very good backup rig to use at home, and running into my Acom
1000 linear I would have some 200-400W output.
Then I would wait a year or two to have the K3, after the first revisions
have gone through. And sell my IC746 at the same time if I still get a
decent price for it.
I operate mostly CW and RTTY contesting.
