K2/100 power supply

Millerhill
I have a k2/100 and have a rechargeable 13.8 battery on the low power input and a 35A power supply for main power to the 100w amp. I assume it's ok to run power from the 35a power supply to both the low power input and the amp at the same time right? Would I need a fuse on the low power input?  I'm going on vacation and will be taking the K2 and have access to AC power so don't anticipate doing any QRP so I'm thinking I don't really need to have that rechargeable Belkin UPS in the shack and hooked up to the K2 except for possible power outages.

Stephen,

Unless your K2/100 is unusual in some way or another, you do not need a
separate power cable to the base K2.

One reason to connect the base K2 power to a battery and the KPA100
power to an AC powered supply is in the case that AC mains power is
interrupted, you can continue a QSO at low power, only the KPA100 power
drops off and you still have the QRP signal.

As you have it wired right now, you should have a fuse in the wire to
the base K2.  That fuse protects the wire from vaporizing in case of a
fault (fuse located near the battery).  A battery can produce a LOT of
current.
