K2/100 problem on 80 meters

Pierre
Well I spoke about the SWR meter on my MFJ-949E. If I send CW, when I release the key, the reflected power needle goes up wildly.. sign of a high SWR... even at 11 watts.

But that same needle stay at 0 W for a 10 Watts transmission...

Pierre,

That strongly suggests that your KPA100 has a parasitic.
If your KPA100 is of recent vintage (less than 2 years old), it should
be quite stable.
But, if you have added the KPA100UPKT, I must ask if your upgrade kit
included a new C31 capacitor of 0.22 uF value.  Many KPA100UPKT kits did
not include this capacitor until recently.  If this situation fits your
case, send an email to [hidden email] asking for a new capacitor for
C31.

If your KPA100 is of the older T/R switch design - red cores for L15 and
L16, then I would suggest that adding the KPA100UPKT would solve your
problem.  The current KPA100UPKT includes the new capacitor for C31.
