K2 160M rx mod.

Dale Town
Just installed the 160 RX mod in the radio and when I tried to do a CAL PLL
on 160 meters I got a INFO 232. Anyone know what this means?

Yes, it means that you only need to do CAL PLL once, on 40 meters.

Dale,

You apparently missed the "Triangle i"  (Information warning) near the
top of page 9 of the K160RX manual - or else you have an old K160RX kit
and failed to read the errata sheet).

CAL PLL is only run on 40 meters since the advent of firmware version
2.00.  You do not have to run CAL PLL on 160 meters (unless your
firmware is earlier than version 2.00), and if you try it will give you
an INFO 232 message.

Problem with K2 Spot function, etc.

Phil and Christina
In reply to this post by Dale Town
I have K2 s/n 4635 which has given me good service since I built it.  About
a month ago, I started using a 6 meter transverter (XV50) that I built.
That works well with the K2.  However, since then I have had two occurrences
of a problem.  The first time I fixed it (not sure how) or it cleared
itself.  The second occurrence is happening now.

The most noticeable symptom is that the SPOT function does not work.  In
addition, TUNE seems a bit sluggish to turn on and there is no tone with it.
A few of the other buttons may be sluggish too.  This happens with the
transverter out of the line (straight HF K2).  What should I look for?
Thank you.

Phil,

In the ST-L menu you can choose for a pin of an IC that generates the tone.
It is on page 55 of the KPA100 manual.

Phil,

You have most likely changed the sidetone source in the menu.
Go into the menu for ST L (or tap the PF button if you have one set for
that function).
Then EDIT the parameter
Tap DISPLAY to toggle the sidetone source.  When you hear the sidetone,
exit the menu.
All done.

Note: there is no sidetone generated when doing a TUNE operation.
