K2 4766

C Dwight Baker
I have started 4766 and having a ball.  I am a newcomer to Elecraft and old,
old ham since 1959 and dumb enough to let my ticket expire in the 80s'.  I
have taken measurements as outlined in the assembly instructions and did not
get a reading in accordance with the resistances shown in the instructions.

Control Board:
        U8 pin 16  NO READING

Front Panel:
        J1  Pins 4,5,6,7,9,10,11,12,13,14,19  NO READINGS

RF Board:
        R1 and R2  NO READINGS

Where am I going wrong?  Is there a complete schematic showing all the
components connected together like the old Heathkits??

Dwight,

Congratulations on getting back into building your gear, you will not be
sorry, and good luck on getting that ham ticket again.

Please explain what you mean by 'NO READING'.  Actual readings may vary
depending on your particular meter, but the resistance charts may show the
minimum expected readings - that is especially true if the reading is shown
with a 'Greater Than' symbol (>), meaning the reading may be greater than
the value indicated, but should not be less than that value.  There is a
note to that effect at the top of the resistance check chart for the control
board, and applies throughout the manual.

Yes, there is a complete schematic in the back of each Elecraft manual
(Appendix B for the K2 manual), and it is also listed in the  Table of
Contents.  If by 'complete' you mean a large foldout/foldup schematic, the
answer is no, the schematic consists of 6 sheets, but the line tags do
correspond from one sheet to another, and that makes it a complete
schematic - I have not seen those old foldout schematics in some long time
now.
