K2 #5813 is alive

wd4lst
Good morning all,
I put the finishing touches on #5813 last night after all the final tests passed without pause and output power >10 watts on
all bands 160 - 10. Within 10 minutes of hooking it to my folded dipole, I worked a CN2 in Morocco on 40m, followed by CG2FET in Canada running a special prefix in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Reginald Fessenden's first voice over radio transmission. Not a bad start.
I can't think of anything to say about the radio that has not already been stated. I am blown away by it. It is a CW ops dream!!
Many thanks to all of you on the reflector, and Don for answering some questions on phase 2. I have not posted much, but have gained a lot of insight about the build by following the threads. Perhaps as time goes by, I will have some useful input to give back. IMHO, the technical exchange
on the reflector is the source of the Elecraft mojo!
The build manual is awesome. Going to the detail to inform that one resistor in the pack was taped in backwards was over the top!
The only possible suggestion would be a cautionary note on winding on the FT37-43 ferrite cores. I found that if I wasn't careful, pulling the winding snug would skin the insulation of the wire on the inside edge of the core. I did not experience this on any other cores. I modified my technique to "push" the last bit of wire through the core with my thumb. This might already be mentioned somewhere that I overlooked, or it might just be on a specific run of cores. I do not recall it occurring on my K1 build.

Once again, thanks to all!!
See you on the Air!!
73s,
Pete
